Work in Progress – Predator: Run Through The Jungle.
So, this is basically just a wee idea I have for Predator story, could work as a movie or comic book. The original film is one of my favorite films of all time and I have always loved the idea of the Predators visiting us throughout history to hunt us. I’ve always found the Vietnam War fascinating and that era is just right for a Predator film in my own opinion.

So, am I back?

Hello all! It’s been a while hasn’t it? This past year plus has been pretty crazy eh? Pretty shite too if I’m being honest. Hence why I have neglected this blog till now. There’s been a lot happening in my personal life in the last year, both bad and good, plus work has been crazy busy so I havent had much time to update this at all. On top of that, this whole coronavirus shite has put a lot of plans I had up a certain creek without a certain paddle, so that old friend of mine, Mr Depression, has been trying to make an appearance again. He hasn’t been making many appearances to be fair, its more like he’s peeking in the window to see if I’m home but I won’t let the sonuvabitch in. But I didn’t set up this blog to talk about sad stuff like that did I? No, I set up this blog to talk about fun stuff like movies damnit and thats what I’m gonna do. I’m going to try and update this at least once a week if I can, depending on work, mood etc.. Even if it means just a wee ramble like this one.
So what movies have I been watching over the last year or so? Well, roughly a metric shit tonne of them to be perfectly frank. My weekends are usually spent either watching films or working on models. One thing that has kept old Mr Depression at bay over the last while is something I like to call Cross Country Movie Night. I have a very good friend, Karen, who lives across the country from me. Every week (schedules permitting) , we take turns to find a bad film to watch, usually on Youtube, Netflix or Sky (usually on Youtube to be fair, it is amazing just how many full movies are on there if you know where to look.), we set a time to watch it , start it at the same time and message each other over Whatsapp slagging the film off as we watch it. We’re basically doing Mystery Science Theater but noone else is watching us and it’s purely for our own amusement. Its immensely fun to do, especially in this current quarantiney climate. We’ve been doing it for close to 2 years now and its become one of our favourite traditions. As you’ll see from this list of some of the films we’ve watched since September last year, we have watched some absolute doozies.

See what I mean? Apologies for my atrocious handwriting by the way, its always been a weakness of mine. I’m going to throw my hands up in the air here and admit that a good few of my choices have been influenced by RedLetterMedia and their Best of The Worst videos, Brandons Cult Movie Reviews and Mystery Science Theater. If you’re not already familiar with any of these then get your ass onto YouTube and check them out, they are 100% worth the watch and they will introduce you to sooooooo many awesomely bad films. Obviously not all the films we watch are garbage, we try to squeeze some good ones in every once in a while. But even the best films ever made have something in it you can make fun of if you try hard enough. I remeber going to see X-Men Apocalypse with another friend of mine, Marina, at our local cinema. We’d had a couple of beers before the film so had a nice wee head on and we spent almost the whole film just leaning over to each other and making jokes about the film (whispering obviously, we’re not savages). To this day, its one of the best expericences I’ve had watching a film in the cinema, purely for the hilarity of it. I’ve also discovered over the past while that as much as I love a really good, well made, engrossing movie, a lot of the time I would prefer to watch something cheesy or something that keeps me entertained.Don’t get me wrong, I can watch a film like say, The Deer Hunter or The Godfather and I can enjoy the amazing acting, engrossing story and great characters. But I have to be in the mood for something of that caliber. But give me the choice between The Godfather or Friday the 13th Part 6? Cheesy horror shlock will win 90% of the time. I’ve just realized that I’m not entirely sure where I’m going with all this , so I think I’m going to call time on this post. I have a Cross Country Movie Night planned for tomorrow night, so I may do a post about that. It’s my choice this time so gonna have to make sure I pick something good (by that I mean bad of course) so until next time, stay safe out there everyone!
I Watched – Godzilla: King of The Monsters (2019)

Directed by: Mike Dougherty
Starring: Vera Farmiga, Kyle Chandler, Charles Dance, Ken Watanabe, Sally Hawkins, Milie Bobby Brown, Bradley Whitford, O’Shea Jackson, Zhang Ziyi
In Godzilla: King of The Monsters, a giant three headed dragon chomps on an electrical power plant to juice itself up to fight a giant radioactive lizard, while a giant luminous moth fights a giant lava pterodactyl in the background and it’s fucking glorious. Oh and also humans are there. I’m guessing you want a bit more detail about my thoughts on the film though since this is a movie blog. Honestly, you people. This will be full of spoilers by the way so if you want to see it, stop reading here. If you’ve seen the film or don’t care about spoilers, click below to carry on.

Lets talk about films…

Films and me.
I’ve been sitting here for god knows how long trying to think about how to start this off, so fuck it, lets just get straight to the point. I LOVE films. I love watching them, reading about them, talking about them, everything about them. If I’m having a conversation with my friends, 9 times out of 10 I will probably try and steer it towards films or TV shows I’ve seen. Films have been a big part of my life since I was very young. From watching Jaws with my mum when I was about 6 or 7 (still one of my favourite memories, so if your reading this Ma, thanks for that), sitting in front of the telly with my brother and sister watching our favourite videos, to spending Christ knows how much on dvds and blu rays for my ever expanding film collection.

So why do I love films so much?
Because for me they are an escape. I’m gonna get a bit personal here and I may ramble a bit here, so bear with me. The last few years I’ve suffered from depression. It’s something that I have accepted that is always going to be a part of me, and I am not gonna lie, it can be an absolute fucker to deal with. Apart from my friends and family (obviously), films have been one of the things that let me forget about my troubles and escape for a few hours. They are an escape from the terrible things that are happening in the world just now. I try to avoid watching the news or reading news online because its all just so depressing and that’s the last thing I need ( I realise that good stuff happens as well, but that’s never reported is it?). For a few hours at a time I can escape to the deck of the Orca, or the Nakatomi Plaza, or LV-426. Whenever I watch a film I immediately go online and read as much as I can about it. From IMDb and Wikipedia to TV Tropes, I will absorb as many facts as I can, then regurgitate them in conversation later. I cold honestly spend hours on end talking about them. So you can expect a lot of that in this blog.
So what else can you expect from this blog?
Originally this log was going to be a film review blog, but it’s not quite going to be. I will be talking about films I’ve watched, but I won’t be rating them or saying “You’ve got to see this film!”. This is purely my own opinions on films I watch. Different people are going to have different opinions of films and different tastes of films so its pointless giving a film a rating because as far as I’m concerned , there is no such thing as the right rating. Someone is always going to disagree with me. And that’s absolutely fine, I’m not gonna call you out for it or call you stupid for liking certain types of films. If everyone liked the same shite, this world would be fucking boring. I love horror, thriller, action and sci-fi films, so most of the films I talk about will be from those genres. I have put a list of my ten favourite films at the top of this blog so you will get a good idea of my particular tastes.
Anything else?
If you’re gonna comment on anything on here, please keep it civil. This isn’t somewhere to discuss politics or religion or anything like that. This is a movie/game/tv blog and nothing else. I’m gonna update this as much as I can. whenever I can. I’m not gonna keep a schedule but if you want to be updated on new posts, you can subscribe on here or follow me on Twitter under @andrewkmorriso1
Okay, thats all I’m gonna say for now. Until the next update, bugger off!
HELLO BOYS, I’M BAAAAAAAAACK!!

So I deleted my last blog because I was going through a pretty tough time, went through a bad spell of depression and had a bit of a breakdown a couple of months ago. But I’m back on the mend now so I’ve decided to restart this blog up again. Its gonna be the usual reviews and musings about films, games and other stuff like that. May start doing wee videos as well but we’ll see. I haven’t committed to a schedule for this at all so will update it whenever I see fit for the time being and see how it goes. I’m away to Inverness in a week or so for a certain giant radioactive lizard film so if I don’t put anything up before then, that will probably my first review on here. So until then, thanks for checking out my site and I look forward to reviewing loads of films for it.
