So, this is basically just a wee idea I have for Predator story, could work as a movie or comic book. The original film is one of my favorite films of all time and I have always loved the idea of the Predators visiting us throughout history to hunt us. I’ve always found the Vietnam War fascinating and that era is just right for a Predator film in my own opinion.
It’s set during the height of the Vietnam War and our protagonist is a soldier whose father, grandfather etc… have all been involved in various wars and become legends in their various fields, so he is obsessed with proving himself and living up to their legacy. While he’s stationed in Vietnam, a Predator clan arrives and stakes a claim to the area.
Out on patrol, the protagonist starts finding evidence of Predator attacks. Headless corpses, bodies strung up, enemy outposts decimated, that kind of thing. For example, on one occasion his patrol group is pinned down by an enemy sniper and while they are frantically calling for help and trying to locate the sniper, a Predator comes in and takes him out (all off screen and portrayed through sound effects, screams, gunshots etc…) and they just find the bloody aftermath.
He gets captured and while he’s in the prison camp, a Predator attacks the camp and after watching it take out everyone, he becomes obsessed with finding and fighting it himself (possibly has a brief fight with it in the camp before they are interrupted by an air strike?) . He starts volunteering for more dangerous missions, becoming more reckless and bloodthirsty to attract the attention of the Predator.
Eventually he does take on a Predator and defeat it, but here it becomes a twist on the original film as he realizes that there are more of them out there, so he starts hunting them down, eventually going AWOL and using his survival and trapping skills to take down the whole clan. So essentially, he becomes the Predator. Eventually he goes up against the leader of the clan but ends up losing to it after a long drawn out fight. The clan leader takes his head and he earns a place in Predator lore as a clan killer, becoming the legend he always wanted to be.
That’s the basic plot I’ve come up with anyway. I’ve always wanted to see a Predator film set in an older era and I’ve always been fascinated with Vietnam, so it was a perfect for in my opinion. This is basically a combination of Predator, Punisher: Born and Moby Dick. You could have wee nods and Easter eggs to the other films in the franchise, maybe Long Tall Sally playing on a jukebox in a bar, a Predator has armor or weapons made from a Xenomorph, wee things like that (NO “get to da choppa!” line though, that would be a bit too on the nose) .
There could also be a sub plot of a government agency getting wind of the Predators and start investigating them, setting up the OWLF program from Predator 2. You could also do the “hiding in plain sight” thing that the Predators do. All through the film/comic, have sightings of the Predators in the background, both cloaked and uncloaked as wee Easter eggs for the viewer to find and to show that they’ve been watching the characters the whole time. I’m going to try and flesh this idea out over the next wee while, maybe do some wee doodles and stuff.
